Malaria is a leading cause of illness and death in Mali, and endemic in the central and southern regions where more than 90 percent of the population lives. Surveillance, universal coverage of key interventions, and community case management are central to the work supported by the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI).
Specifically, PMI funds PMI Measure Malaria (PMM) to help the government and stakeholders meet the growing demand for high-quality data, data analysis, data visualization, and data use. PMM activities in Mali include working with the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) to analyze data and write and disseminate the monthly bulletins; reenergize the malaria surveillance, monitoring, and evaluation technical working group; support districts to perform data quality assessments; and provide technical support for malaria transmission intensity stratification.
